Then & Now.
The Citizens for a Civic Auditorium, now called The Lyric, purchased the Iris Theater from Movie Palaces, Inc. in September, 2015. The group has remodeled the lobby space, built a catering kitchen, and constructed offices for the staff. The remodel was completed in January of 2016.
While The Lyric undertakes extensive fundraising plans to finance the new auditorium, the remodeled spaces will be used as a source of income.

- The business offices for the staff have been relocated to the new Lyric building.
- The basement storage units will continue to be rented. There are seven spaces available to rent with approximately 10,000 square feet of total storage area.
- The lobby space can be rented for large events, meetings, weddings, charity events, and other private events.
- A large catering kitchen is available for rent.
- Several of the current theaters are available for rent. The spaces can be used for meetings, presentations, concerts, classes, demonstrations and other similar uses. There are 4 large theaters (~200+ seats) and 4 small theaters (~100 seats). One large and one small theatre are outfitted with audio-visual capabilities.
The big picture.
The current vision and design for the Lyric include a main theater with a capacity for 1,258 people; 1,107 comfortable seats or 903 seated and 327 standing. The Lyric will be home to a diverse range of performances offered by Casper’s own local talent as well as touring companies. The auditorium, with an orchestra pit, will have acoustical properties on par with the very finest of performance venues. There will be a large stage and a fly-loft suitable for staging orchestral and choral performances and theatrical productions. Seating in the main theater will be divided into three sections: orchestra, parterre, and balcony. This arrangement will result in a visually rich, varied seating enclosure that will preserve a sense of intimacy even for performances with smaller audiences. The main theater is also particularly appropriate for fundraising performances, guest lectures, and similar activities.
A ballroom for events and smaller performances is planned. The smaller performance space will provide a unique setting for private events including social gatherings, reunions, and weddings as well as smaller performances. Anticipated commercial activities include business meetings and conference sessions, product announcements, annual meetings, educational outreach, award ceremonies, and commercial theatrical productions.
The grand lobby will not only serve as an entry area but will also function as a reception room, banquet area, and exhibit space. A patron pick-up and drop-off area adjacent to the lobby will ensure comfortable entry into the facility even during inclement weather.
The basement will be renovated to offer performers additional rehearsal space, dressing rooms, and a green room along with storage areas and mechanical rooms.
